Alex Galvez

MFT Trainee

Hi I am Alex Galvez (He/They). I am a MFT Trainee at Touro University. Being a Latine, queer therapist I understand how identity shapes how we move around our lives. I believe that therapy is a space where you can show up as your whole self without editing or minimizing who you are. Taking a holistic approach to understanding an individual's thoughts, emotions, and their lives. The holistic approach emphasizes the whole individual, not just a diagnosis or challenge.

My previous work experience involved serving marginalized communities including BIPOC and LBGTQ individuals. I strive to create a space that is affirming, compassionate and respectful of a person's different experiences.

I recognize how our emotional well-being is tied to our bodies, relationships, identities, environments, and experiences. I do approach things through a somatic lens. Meaning our bodies can hold experiences, emotions and stories that can be tough to put into words. Understanding these experiences through the somatic lens we can reconnect these emotions and experiences to your body. As well as exploring and recognizing patterns that no longer serve you. Making sure to build a stronger sense of safety, trust and connection. No matter if you are navigating identity, relationships, life expectations, anxiety or just feeling stuck, you are not alone. Therapy is a teamwork process collaborating and working together to better understand your experiences and challenges. Providing support, and exploration of your needs where you need it most.

You are a whole person who deserves care, compassion and a safe space to be yourself.
