Life Source Training Institute & Affordable Counseling es una organización sin fines de lucro 501 (c) 3 registrada a nivel federal. Fue fundada en 2008 por el Dr. Avis Attaway, LMFT. El Dr. Attaway vio la necesidad de más oportunidades de capacitación para los estudiantes graduados locales en los campos de la consejería de salud mental. Además, se dio cuenta de que había una gran necesidad de servicios de asesoramiento asequibles y accesibles en la comunidad de Riverside y las áreas circundantes.

Mission

We believe mental health care is a basic human right. Our mission is to break down barriers and provide high-quality, affordable, and inclusive services for all Californians.

We partner with community leaders to address the unique needs of underserved groups and create a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental space for everyone seeking support.

By staying current with research and best practices, we ensure effective, evidence-based care. We also train and mentor new therapists to help close California’s provider gap, expanding access to care for the future.

Avis Attaway, PsyD, MS

Founder & Director of Life Source Training Institute

Dr. Avis Attaway is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist (LMFT 34493) with a thriving private practice here in Riverside since 1997. In 2008, she founded Life Source Training Institute, Inc. with the mission of serving the community with affordable high quality counseling while providing student therapists an opportunity to fulfill their practice requirements as defined by California regulations.

As the Executive and Clinical Director, Dr. Attaway works closely with all of the therapist Trainees and Associates that she supervises at Life Source Affordable Counseling to assure that you are receiving the highest quality of care and to insure that the community has access to optimal mental healthcare.

Dr. Attaway has committed her professional life to helping individuals move past pain and overcome obstacles so that they discover the possibilities of a life well-lived. Her vision is to see Life Source continue to grow as a presence in this community and beyond.

Guy Balice, Ph.D.

Clinical Psychologist & Supervisor

Guy Balice obtained his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA in 1997. As a licensed psychologist (PSY 22638) since 2009, Dr. Balice has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and with college students and couples in his private practice.

In 2011, he transitioned his clinical work into clinical supervision of MFT Trainees, Associates, and Pre and Post-Doctoral clinicians pursuing licensure as a psychologist at Life Source.

Dr. Balice is also a Professor in the Clinical PsyD Program at The Chicago School in Los Angeles. Having a passion for psychodynamic theory and therapy, he teaches courses in object relations theory and self-psychology and supervises students within this orientation.

His teaching specialties are statistics, psychometrics and research methods. Dr. Balice has also published and presented his research on domestic and intimate partner violence. Among Dr. Balice’s many passions are the study of the philosophy and history of psychology, as well as all issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
